About

Hi this is Zeyue Meng, focusing on subcultural groups empowered by the media, including contemporary pop culture, has always been a place of interest in my art practice. I see myself as a social observer, and I use this role to understand the pop culture of contemporary society, and the diversity of cultures, with all the differences, changes, and conflicts that exist, has given me more realistic themes to create. In my specific visual creations, I like to find the relevance of the narrative from different perspectives, try different ways of artistic expression and integrate my understanding and feelings into the works, such as the use of sound with the video narrative, or the use of digital technology, installations, etc. to carry out my artistic practice.

INTRODUCTION (to the Graduation Co-operation Programme.Co-authors: Xuejing Chen .Xueying Zhang.Xinning Wang.)
The Synthetic Love project explores artificial intelligence’s role in intimacy and loneliness through a digital film created with technologies like Blender and Luma Al. Focusing on Al’s positive and negative effects, our research encourages young viewers in a capitalist context to reflect on Al, emotional connections, and privacy. Feedback sessions with our target audience ensure the film effectively conveys its message and enhances understanding of Al’s societal impact.

I am committed to reflecting on the popular culture and individual state of being in the city in the contemporary context. Whether it’s the cultural appropriation of gratification in the current Chinese pop music scene, the nationalism and heroic narratives reflected in Chinese martial arts films, or the outdoor camping and bondage culture that is popular among young people today, I have always rooted my creative vision in the discussion of social formations and the cultural identity of my generation. I always keep my creative vision rooted in multiple discussions of social forms and the cultural environment in which my generation was born.
I try to root each project in rich cultural research while exploring multi-sensory experiences for the viewer. This is in a way inspired by the research of the New Left. I am constantly trying to adjust the relationship between the elements in the work.
