About

I am a designer and new media artist, whose work focuses on lived digital environments and human computer interaction. I’m also the Director of Visual Design for Moon, a laboratory working to renew the paradigm for the universal layer of computing.

In the early stages of my practice, I had been an expressive digital artist who explored and self-chronicled through the media of digital and analog communication: web documents, photographic art, writing, video games, and evanescent social media formats. The work rested on a claim that these technologies can, and must, form a veritable aesthetic world, and a subject could be produced in this world and express itself in a unique way.

Over the course of the academic year, I visually and experientially developed Field, an ongoing project at Moon. Field is a software application and paradigm whose immediate goal is to leverage machine learning towards an innovative creative studio. In doing so, Field is meant to organologically advance the mediated environment of digitally enabled human beings. Submitted towards the early stage of a molten and changing software industry, Field iteratively designs on technologies such as multimodal transformers, context-specific AI, and consumer OS interfaces.

In the late era of human interface, digital objects lose their referents and acquire a glassy materiality in a corridor of self-reference. Simultaneously, they seep down into an omnipresent information substrate. They emerge rarely, if at all, from a void that speaks most deafeningly through its silence and its timely deferral of our service requests.

Our visual idiom answers with a renewal of modern design principles: humane, fit, and super normal.
