About

I am Cheng Yannan, born in 2000 in China. I like to express some social issues with my works, using different media such as photography, modelling, handicrafts and so on. I hope to raise and present problems with my works and discuss the solutions with the audience.

The theme of my work is the concept of “domestication”, from the domesticated relationship between humans and nature to the domestication of humans in society. I use the pruning of plants as a metaphor for the phenomenon of self-regulation in society, showing how social regulation affects individual choices. I hope to provoke the audience to think about how to find a balance between individual freedom and social norms.
