Information Experience Design (MA)

About

Yujiao Peng is a visual information experience artist from China who excels in using dynamic visuals, interactive installations, and interdisciplinary jewelry design as modes of expression. Her research focuses on post-human topics. She enjoys creating special-shaped forms, mysterious symbol designs, and bringing abstract concepts to life in tangible forms, which she showcases through wearables and performances.

 Self-nomadism

Self-nomadism expresses the process of exploring the self. All materials and species in the world are sealed in fossils and crystals. Imagine whether post-humans will also conclude in this form, presenting the form of the Inter-species Alliance. Let the audience experience the critical possibilities of post-humanism by establishing a nomadic world landscape and device through the Inter-species Alliance.

Visible and Invisible

This project emphasizes the exploratory process of an experiment. In an abstract concept, what do we see? What does nature see? Are we merely seeing the tip of the iceberg? What we perceive is what our subconscious wants us to see, but we need the courage to confront it directly. Gaia, as a secular representation of nature, symbolizes human imagination of the Anthropocene era and new climate mechanisms, also representing an anti-modern and anti-Anthropocene ecological framework. My project aims to present the concept of Gaia’s climate and symbiosis to the audience, exploring whether humans can enhance Earth’s self-awareness through self-regulation. Hence, I incorporate the principles of the Rorschach inkblot test to understand human emotional states, personality traits, and subconscious activities regarding nature. Through workshops, I invite participants to create inkblots and extract keywords representing the four spheres of nature: the biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere. These activities will help me complete installation models and build a global ecological network platform for human life in subsequent creations. This process is not merely an artistic representation of the ecological environment but a profound reflection on the human-Earth relationship. Through this project, I hope to inspire the audience to pay attention to and reflect on ecological issues, collectively exploring a more harmonious future for Earth.
