Yumo Wang
About
Yumo is an interdisciplinary artist and food designer. With her background in dramaturgy and applied theatre, she values uncertainty, presence and process. This inspired her practice in immersive multi-sensory experience design and site-specific creation as well as lighted up her passion for developing together with a third party such as the audience or nature. Her artworks invite people to perceive and think about possible connections between all kinds of existence.
The recent project Round Table (2024) is a workshop in the form of an afternoon tea party. It is built under the broad theme of non-human narrative and co-existing with other species, using food/eating as metaphors for resources/consumption to explore the question “Are we really willing to share the Earth’s resources with other species?” and the sarcasm of the question itself. Participants are invited to constantly switch their perspectives between humans and non-humans while further engaging with each identity through the activities. All food in the workshop can be actually shared with the corresponding species.
