Visual Communication (MA)

About

Dian graduated from China Academy of Art (CAA) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication Information Design Studio. She is a designer who loves to study Chinese Taoist metaphysics, bagua and divination. She specialises in integrating traditional cultural elements into modern design at CAA, exploring new ways of expression and design language through visual communication and information design.
Currently, as a generative artist, she combines generative art with I Ching, using Touch Designer, to explore the visual representation of I Ching. As an ancient Chinese wisdom, I Ching is rich in philosophy and psychology. She hopes to reinterpret the I Ching through modern technology.

“I Ching Visual Divination system” is a platform that combines Chinese I Ching with an interactive digital art experience. This project is based on the study of I Ching and incorporates the psychoanalytical theories and mandala graphics of Carl.G.Jung on I Ching and Human Design System 64 gates. So based on this, she created the I Ching visual divination system with the aim of helping users to understand the philosophical and psychological connotations of the I Ching, and to design a new tool for self-exploration and psychological balance for the I Ching. It allows the viewer to make mental adjustments and reflections from the visual elements of the I Ching and the mandala graphic.
