Ece Tugay
About
Ece is an Istanbul-born multidisciplinary designer and storyteller with a background in Archaeology & Art History and Media & Visual Arts. Ece’s work is influenced by themes such as symbolism, spiritualism, philosophy, and history. In her practice, she combines intellectual inquiry with emotional expression, often using escapism and irony to create pieces that provoke thought and evoke emotion while advocating for social justice.
Exploring new mediums in her practice as a maker, including jewellery, glass, textiles, tattoo, and print, she likes to play with materials in the intersection between digital and analog, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary techniques. Her creations are inspired by personal experiences, stories, dreams, and poems that resonate on a more communal level. Thinking on the mundane and prosaic, she enjoys playing with these themes in her works.
While trying to find where she belongs, Ece dreams of designing a real bouncy castle one day.
