About

I am Erjie Chen, a digital creator with a passion for crafting narratives through visual communication. My expertise encompasses 3D Design, Animation, Concept Art, and Immersive Storytelling.

I focus on exploring emerging forms of interaction, blending visual and sound experiences to create engaging projects. In my professional practice, I center on fictional historical storytelling, emphasizing the importance of understanding context and perspective. I critically engage with the world through creative approaches, exploring the non-duality of history using cross-media combinations and immersive digital encounters.

During my studies at the Royal College of Art, I created the fictional concept of the Federal Rocket Agency, using the deconstruction of history as a starting point. From this concept, I derived three immersive moving image-based works. These include two mockumentary-style 3D animations, which record a fictional historical archive of scientific research and the investigation of ancient rockets in the early 20th century: Project Norn Part I (2023). Additionally, I produced its subsequent documentary archive: Project Norn Part II (2024). The third work in the Federal Rocket Agency series is an immersive VR film: Karman Line (2024). In the fictional parallel history of Karman Line, set more than half a century later, the narrative adapts the real history of the space race between superpowers, telling the tragic story of an astronaut who lost hope and sacrificed his life during this era.
