Haoruo Zhang

Visual Communication (MA)

About

Haoruo Zhang is a graphic designer and visual designer. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts and entered the Royal College of Art to further study visual communication. His works are dedicated to exploring the hidden connections between common things. Presenting different perspectives of thinking in a simple and direct way.

In the project “Antithetical World of Method”, he focuses on the key words “intuition” and “rationality”, using dialectical comparison as the research method, and the instructions of several artists and designers as specific neutral research objects. Extreme intuition and extreme rationality are used to solve the same problem, switching between thinking and not thinking, trying to reinforce the different impacts of intuition and rationality in design results. The result is a design “dictionary” of rational and intuitive thinking. This “dictionary” will serve as a method and a tool for people to refer to when facing similar problems. It also guides people to think about the relationship between intuition and rationality in design, and to find a more suitable way of thinking for themselves.
