About

Haoyang Chen is a visual designer. His work focuses on digital art and 3D animation, exploring the relationship between people and society.

During his studies at the Royal College of Art, he gradually explored the nostalgic trends in contemporary Chinese society and used virtual dreamscapes as his visual output, which ultimately resulted in his graduation project, Retrace.

Nostalgia is a uniquely human emotion that provides us with comfort and insight. He has created a virtual dreamscape imbued with Chinese nostalgic sentiments—a space that connects the past with infinite possibilities. This allows Chinese youth to reconnect with their heritage, rekindle their zest for life, and restore their dreams for the future, facing the present with a hopeful mindset. In this virtual world, He hope they can experience familiarity and freedom, escaping the distortions caused by excessive competition and immense pressure in today’s society. They can temporarily break free from the constraints of the real world, find inner peace and freedom, and pursue the life they truly desire for their future.
