About
A queer artist from China, specializing in installation, video and performance. She is concerned about the current situation of queer in China. She is also interested in capitalist society. Her works are often satirical, using clever techniques to imply social phenomena.
In today’s society, short video culture has become popular, but we should consider the situation of the queer community in this short video space. In the prevalent environment of short videos, information is compressed into symbols and continuously replicated and disseminated into our field of vision. What is the representation of the queer community in such short video media? I used 3d modeling to create a scene similar to a live room. Two people “dance” in front of it, satirizing the phenomenon in a “black humor” way. I blurred the gender binary in their image and added a narrative. It expresses the fact that in cyberspace, the queer community has to use “sexualized” dances like heterosexuals to gain attention.
