About
I am a Colombian designer and visual communicator with a keen interest in storytelling and art direction. I believe communication, both verbal and non-verbal is our most valuable tool, and it is key to creating better and more inclusive stories that resonate with widely diverse audiences across different platforms. Furthermore, I immensely value narrative processes and how those drive the construction of individual perception and community bonds, which is why I am constantly looking for creative opportunities that challenge my perspectives and my skills.
I had the opportunity to work with the United Nations Development Program in Colombia, which deepened my fascination with how storytelling is essential when trying to understand what holds a community together, as well as what strengthens feelings of belonging and collective resilience. Having had the chance to work alongside very diverse and sometimes vulnerable communities really opened my eyes to how much we need to create more inclusive platforms that give the historically oppressed a voice. It also made me understand how communication, with its flexibility and adaptability, is key to devising more impactful interventions.
Most recently, I achieved my masters degree in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art, with a research practice that explores the impact of cultural narratives on the shaping of our current societies. My Independent Research Project “Paper Trails” is in itself an exploration on how storytelling can bridge the apparently disconnected worlds of science and art, and how by doing so, we are enriching the history of our species with diverging points of view. Now, I am looking forward to taking everything I learned from this course and venturing to see how it can impact different fields of design and communication, that range from archiving and museographic experiences, to the booming world of graphic design, user experience and marketing.
