Mingyun Cao (Tommy) is a London-based multimedia designer specializing in the exploration and representation of cultural phenomena through engaging narratives. With a diverse skill set that encompasses graphic design, 3D design, and conceptual design, Tommy excels in creating thought-provoking and visually captivating works. Tommy’s design philosophy focuses on delving into the intricate structures of various cultural elements, presenting them in a compelling and innovative manner.
“Freestyle”(2024) is a visually oriented publication focused on communication. It explores the niche culture of snowboarding and the practice of showcasing tricks, revealing how these performances contribute to shaping subcultural groups and constructing cultural capital. The work encourages audiences to critically examine performative behaviors like showcasing tricks.
