About

Rui is a digital media designer.
Her creative practice spans semiotics, the relationship between nature and humanity, the future of AI, and digital storytelling. Currently, she focuses on creating digital symbols and digital species, utilising digital media to address various issues arising from improper human behaviour.

Her recent work, “Glitterbodies,” delves into Generation Z’s fascination with glitter in Weeb culture, blending online sparkle with deeper symbolic meanings. Rui created six luminous beings, each with a unique story, showcased in a slow-paced short film. Guided by a narrator, viewers explore this universe, experiencing the glitterbodies’ celestial dance and their impact on their surroundings.
