After graduating from the China Academy of Art with a degree in Visual Communication, Peihan entered the RCA to pursue a master’s degree. She focused on ancient and contemporary Chinese female narratives, and tried to tell stories and present opinions through cross-media publications.
Love for RE-SUE:This project introduces a subculture phenomenon, RE-SUE, active in East Asian fan culture. I try to explore the characteristics, psychological phenomena, and sociocultural background of this culture dominated by parasocial interaction, observe how female fans express their love and desire in the cultural context of male gaze, and explore their contradictory psychology.
River Newtalk:It focuses on the mythical story of the river goddess in ancient China, and explores from a modern feminist perspective the connection between the female role of the goddess and the worship of nature in the human/non-human world, and the dispossession of their identities as objects within patriarchal contexts and the process of reinvention.
