Yunan Zang
About
INFO
Yunan Zang is a graphic designer and visual communicator whose design practice focuses on capturing and amplifying intrinsic values and meanings through design. After completing his undergraduate studies at the China Academy of Art, he chose to continue his studies in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art. His work is characterized by a deep exploration of the essence of subjects, aiming to depict and enhance the latent value and significance embedded within them. By blending traditional and contemporary design philosophies, He strives to create visually compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and provoke thoughtful engagement.
His project, Shadows of identities, focus on special groups with political backgrounds. The use of AI-generated image captions has been on the rise. However, the individuals and social groups captured and depicted by AI in these images receive little attention. Stereotypical descriptions or the social context of overlooked groups can influence people’s understanding, beliefs, and attitudes towards these specific groups, potentially causing harm. This project will investigate the potential representation of social groups depicted in images and present findings through posters and publications.
