The project will face the increase in ruins and abandoned houses brought about by rapid urbanisation in 2050, by studying ruins and abandoned buildings covered by nature and looking for the possibility of reconstructing them vegetatively. By planting Fraxinus excelsior and Salix alba, urban ruins will be reconstructed to create sustainable and multifunctional living environments. The project utilises the properties of these tree species to design eco-friendly building structures that improve the urban microclimate and air quality.
Through scenario planning, systems thinking and bio-inspired design, the project not only promotes green building practices, but also increases community engagement and environmental awareness. By 2050, the project is expected to boost local economic growth by 15 per cent and significantly improve the health and quality of life of residents. Through innovative design and interdisciplinary collaboration, the project aims to realise ecological, economic and social benefits that address the challenges of tomorrow’s cities, promote sustainable development and create a more resilient and environmentally friendly future for urban spaces.
