I'm a product designer specializing in designing innovative and sustainable futures. During my MDes in Design Futures at the Royal College of Art, I deeply explored future forecasting methods and scenario planning. Through interdisciplinary research, I designed a future insect food system that promotes healthy eating habits and environmental sustainability. I'm dedicated to changing public attitudes towards eating insects through creative and systematic design, driving dietary habits towards a greener future. My design work focuses not only on the aesthetics and functionality of products but also on solving complex social and environmental issues through design thinking and systems design methods, creating a more sustainable future food system.

I’m Chenjia Zhu, a product designer passionate about sustainability and innovation.

My project envisions a future where insect-based foods address global food shortages and promote environmental sustainability.

Through a phased approach, I aim to introduce insect-based desserts in high-end restaurants, develop convenient home insect food packs, and implement community insect farming systems.

By leveraging speculative design and scenario planning, my work seeks to change social perceptions about insect consumption and provide nutritious, eco-friendly food solutions.

My studies at the RCA in Design Futures have equipped me to tackle these complex challenges creatively.
