About
Lin Lin is an innovation-driven interaction designer based on industrial design and digital art, specialising in strategic design and social research. She has developed a strong passion for research and practical experience in the future development of society during her internships at ByteDance and Xinhua News Agency.
During her studies at the Royal College of Art, she explored various futuristic design methodologies in depth, providing a solid foundation for advanced academic research. As Lin continues to work in information design, she will use technology and system services as a bridge to realise the possibilities of a more enjoyable, sustainable and inclusive future society, by enhancing the connections between people and their environments.
Cultural Continuum is a methodology for building future socialised cultural connections.
The project aims to explore the ecosystems of future cultural connections, provide strategic frameworks and workflows for communities that need to strengthen their cultural identities and offer new perspectives on integration in a multicultural world.
Currently using Hokkien (Fujian) immigrant culture as a case study, the project is exploring how descendants of Hokkien immigrants in New York City in 2040 will experience their original culture by guiding immigrant users, through online and offline workshops, to create a unique cultural heritage (accessory) that integrates with their own experiences, allows them to proudly embrace their heritage, and celebrates their unique journey of self-discovery.
The project is also looking for gatekeepers from other cultural backgrounds (people who are familiar with other cultures and are responsible for controlling access to the project to avoid misinformation and stereotyping) to get feedback from different cultures and conduct case experiments to critically think and optimise the methodology. To collaborate, please contact Lin.
