The Famosaic Family Model

This project envisions the new family models that may emerge in China by 2040.

Throughout human history, family models have never been static; they are closely tied to developments in society, economy, and technology.

Generation Z is currently facing a dilemma where their self-needs conflict with traditional societal expectations (i.e., starting a family and establishing a career). This is likely because the current family models lag behind today’s socio-economic and technological advancements.

Therefore, by 2040, it is highly probable that new family models will emerge in society to adapt to human lifestyles.

This project aims to inspire Generation Z youth, who are grappling with conflicts between real-world pressures and personal ideals, to broaden their imagination about diverse future family models. It encourages them to bravely confront traditional Chinese societal expectations and pursue the lives they truly aspire to live.

The pictures show how the project provokes thought in four steps.
Step1: Reflection
Step2: Scenario
Step3: Generation
Step4: Feedback
