About

Arif Yusop is a design practitioner and researcher exploring radical transformation and grassroots initiatives envisioning radical alternative futures beyond the sustainability-as-usual transition. His current PhD research thesis seeks to investigate the values and limitations of design in reconfiguring dominant narratives of sustainable futures and exploring alternative narratives of future vision. This study draws on transdisciplinary approaches from sustainability transition research, future studies, transition design, systems thinking, the pluriverse concept, and grassroots envisioning processes like the Vikalp Sangam process.

His 15 years of experience spans various design disciplines, including graphic and communication design, branding, interaction and experience design, and designing for services and systems. His diverse skill set encompasses design strategy, research, presentation, and design management, reflecting a multifaceted and versatile approach to his practice. He is t the founding member of Liveable Planet Challenge Lab at the Royal College of Art Service Design, alongside futurist Sanjay Khanna, NOW Partners, Adidas and the Department for Transport.
