About

I am a product designer and illustrator currently based in London. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Industrial Arts and Design Practices from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore (India).

As a designer, I constantly juggle between listening to people’s needs, working within constraints, and trusting my intuition. I have a fascination for the tactile, simple, and animated, and I try to make my work reflect the same.

During my time at the RCA, I explored design interventions for the support of informal carers of dementia. RCA’s open-ended approach to design and the MA Design Products mentorship model encouraged me to take complete charge of my project and become a proactive designer.

Centr is a product-service system that aims to support family carers of dementia by bridging gaps between carers and formal support systems. It consists of a physical conversational prop for therapy settings and a digital app for carers. The physical prop acts as a tactile tool to aid conversations about “hard-to-discuss” topics. Using a set of tokens of different sizes and colors on the balance prop, carers can visualise the effort that goes into caregiving. A set of reflective prompts has been designed to help therapists address specific factors that contribute to the “burden” for each carer. The digital app allows carers to log their journey in balancing care duties and self-care needs. It connects them with registered carer support services, provides reminders to rest, schedules rest for later, and provides an analysis of caring and resting patterns.

I am lucky to have worked with children as well as the elderly. I have over three years of professional experience designing physical and digital learning experiences for children. My past work includes social design projects for Indian communities, consumer electronics, and illustration for conservation and children’s newsletters.

I want to do a little bit of everything. Being a designer has allowed me to connect with a diverse range of people and subjects in creative ways. There are still many territories to explore.
