Suli Wu
About
A product designer from China with a master’s degree in product design. He has a strong interest in inclusive design and unconscious design, and is dedicated to improving people’s quality of life through design.
In 2024, he participated in a project aimed at designing for the elderly in nursing homes in the UK, focusing on helping them enhance their memory. He discovered that many elderly individuals use memory boxes and reminiscence rooms as triggers for conversations, recalling past events with others. However, few people recorded what they thought of during these activities or logically connected the different elements of their memories. Based on this, he designed a clue board incorporating reminiscence therapy, offering visual, auditory, and tactile sensory experiences.
Elderly individuals can trigger memories through old photographs, familiar sounds, and the touch of items they used in the past. They can then record these memories and logically connect them using markers with the same color and letters. Through this process, he helps enhance memory, trains cognitive abilities, and prevents dementia.
He believes that design is not just about creating aesthetically pleasing objects but also about solving real-world problems. He hopes that through his design work, he can positively impact society.
