About

My name is Zheng Wenjie, and I was born in a small city in Anqing, Anhui, China. From a young age, I had a passion for painting, and in high school, I successfully passed the art entrance exam to gain admission to the China Academy of Art, where I embarked on my journey in product design.

During my undergraduate studies, I was exposed to a variety of design directions and themes, including automotive design, furniture design, interaction design, and gender studies. Each area provided me with a profound understanding of the diversity and breadth of design, sparking my curiosity and drive to delve deeper into the field.

To further enhance my professional skills, I decided to pursue a master’s degree at the Royal College of Art. Here, I am primarily researching the impact of negative emotions on human behavior and how to address and alleviate these emotions through design. Through this research, I aim to identify the connection between design and emotions, utilizing design as a tool to improve emotional well-being.

My graduation project focuses on teaching children a new way to interact with medication. By designing an interactive toy, I hope to show children that medication can be more than just something to consume—it can be beneficial to their health through a playful and engaging experience. This toy uses gamified interaction to reduce their fear and resistance towards medication. This design not only addresses the emotional needs of children but also incorporates functional design elements, making the medication process friendlier and more enjoyable.

My design philosophy is to use design as a catalyst for human behavior, paying attention to the negative emotions people experience. I believe that design is not only about creating beautiful objects but also about solving problems and enhancing the quality of life. I hope my designs can positively impact society, allowing more people to experience the power and charm of design.

Today, I continue to explore and learn new design concepts and methods. I hope to create more meaningful and valuable works in my future design career. I will keep striving to convey emotions and care through my designs, contributing to society in my own way.
