About

Xianghe Meng

Product Designer | Crafts Enthusiast | Concept Innovator

With a foundational background in traditional product design, Meng’s journey at the Royal College of Art (RCA) has broadened her perspective, allowing her to explore diverse design fields and uncover the heartwarming synergy between professional endeavours and personal passions.

Driven by a deep belief that design is omnipresent, Meng emphasises craftsmanship and the tactile qualities of materials. By focusing on user experience and intricate interactions, she aims to transform everyday objects into thoughtfully crafted solutions that resonate with deeper meaning and purpose.

Meng is convinced that paying closer attention to life’s myriad facets leads designers to encounter richer, more complex, and thought-provoking challenges. This attention to detail ultimately bridges the gap between functionality and artistry, elevating the mundane into the extraordinary.

Meng finds joy in dismantling, rebuilding, and reimagining the ordinary, infusing it with inspiration and design proficiency.

The independent research project “BreezeQuest” leverages audio input technology to teach traditional musical skills within a cultural framework. It operates through three phases: Input, Data Processing, and Output. Initially, the system captures audio as users play an instrument. It then analyzes these sounds to provide visual and motion feedback, like manipulating bamboo knives in simulations. The final phase reduces beginner boredom by merging cultural education with practical exercises and incorporates performance indicators and an achievement system to support beginners’ development. This project showcases an innovative blend of cultural heritage and modern educational tools, making music education both comprehensive and engaging.
