She is from Shandong Province, China. The inspiration for this graduation project comes from her own life. The design concept of the Eating Altar is to replace the traditional Chinese family dining scene with a sacrificial scene. The entire dining process and tableware of a family of three are redesigned. The cook is deified, and those who do not cook should serve the cook during the meal. In daily life, we always ignore the hard work behind a meal, thinking that this is what they should do. This work uses direct means to make everyone grateful for the emotional labour of the cook, just like in ancient times, people thanked God for the food through sacrifice. In short, the design of the food altar tableware and dining experience recreates the rituals used during sacrifices on the dining table through a modern perspective, challenging people’s perceptions and deepening their understanding of the important role of cooks in family life.
