About

Qiukun Xian is an interdisciplinary material artist from China. He has cross-professional knowledge in fashion design and biology. He is good at co-creating clothing, ceramics, sculpture, furniture and other products with different species (such as spiders and silkworms, etc.).

He has worked for kar studio(www.kar-studio.com), an independent furniture brand in Guangzhou for three years, during the construction and development of the brand, he gradually began to pay attention to the control of creative details and gained experience in contact with different materials.

He is working on a way to repair and recreate objects, making broken things beautiful again and restored by working with other species. “Sometimes what we create is not necessarily to create something completely new, we just fix what we have and we no longer have the energy to create a lot of new things, and that’s my point about design.”It is a story of repair and reconstruction, a method of regenerating things, a method of creation by man in cooperation with other creatures.

QiukunXian received his Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China in 2021 and is currently studying the biowear branch of his fashion degree at the Royal College of Art.
