About

AGGII//AGGII, is visioning a start of a new subculture, it's to
aggravate people to go raving. In my work I want to supply rave
wear but not show entirely what rave is, as the buyer who
receives the clothes has to find out what rave is themselves.
Through rave I really discovered myself and my community as a
queer non binary person, finding my friends has helped me grow so
much, I couldn’t image my life without them. Raves are one night
where u can forget about the outside world and focus on your
mates and music its and overwhelming but also grounding place,
for me it doesn’t matter where the raves are but the community I
have around me, I feel safe but more importantly rejuvenated
after every rave. Raves are overstimulating in the best way, the
music thudding, the lights flashing, the smell of cigarettes
lingering in the club and the taste of water after long hours of
dancing, with your besties at your side.
I want to highlight the importance of subculture, and the fact
they’re non existent now, is the reason I'm emerging my own, a
collection that my mates can wear to the raves. Its one place
where you can focus on one thing for one evening, the lights, the
sounds, smell its a sensory overload and I want to add the touch
part in my fashion, I want my subculture to wear my fits too the
rave.
This collection is built around nine looks that can be adapted
and styled in different ways. I want to use past elements of rave
but reconstruct them into the present. My original work came from
research from old magazines that where present in the 90s, for me
the 90s was where rave began. I did like this process but I did
get lost in the past instead of focussing on the now and my own
experience with rave. My earlier process is very different too
the end result of my collection, but I wanted to try something
different. I knew from then on that I wanted to use past
elements of rave but reconstruct them into the present. And using
what my mates wear/ aesthetic and construct them
into new looks. I built 9 looks but I've only documented seven
here I'm still deciding on styling for the other two
For the future I want the clothes to be an aspect too AGGII but
the music will always be the centre, eventually hosting raves
myself. The clothes aspect would be made to order to eliminate
mass production and runways, I want my customer to truly
appreciate and cherish their AGGII garment.
These clothes feel very me and I can really imagine my mates
wearing them, eventually I will document them worn at the club. I
feel my work is missing the club aspect off what rave is like,
but too be honest rave isn’t about taking photos my collection is
too aggravate people to go to them and find there own community,
as rave is being in the moment, as before u know it the raves
over.
