Xinyan Wang
About
I am Xinyan Wang, born in Beijing, China. I was raised in a very traditional and strict Chinese family. In my cultural background, my life has been accompanied by many rules and constraints, yet I am a very “rebellious” person. Therefore, my growth was filled with conflicting clashes, as I constantly pondered what the right rules are and how to define my “rebellion.” What are the boundaries between constraint and freedom? I have infused these emotions into my artistic works.
My fashion creations vividly depict my inner world and personal emotional conflicts while incorporating and showcasing major current social issues. I explore the difficulty of self-identity recognition in today’s societal context and a comfortable yet distorted way of emotional self-expression.
Through my artistic works, I strive to address the socio-cultural needs that deeply resonate with my own experiences and background. I hope to challenge and redefine the rules through my creations, enabling individuals to express their unique identities and question the status quo.
