Graduation Design
This project explores the integration of traditional techniques with modern materials, focusing on the traditional yellow grass weaving technique native to Shanghai. The aim is to experiment with new methods for cultural preservation by applying this nearly forgotten craft to clothing. The project deconstructs and develops the weaving technique by using various leftover materials and innovatively constructing small units, infusing traditional weaving with modern visual effects. The garments feature a simplified structure that showcases the texture of these small units, emphasizing upper-body weaving, puffed skirts, and over-the-knee boots detailed with woven elements. Six looks were created and offered in multiple colors to cater to those who appreciate unique and personalized fashion styles. Additionally, the project investigates the comfort and durability of conceptual clothing and enhances the overall presentation of the work by composite fabrics.
