ChromaCalm is designed to empower participants by allowing them to visually and tangibly engage with their emotional states, serving as a transformative tool for self-discovery and empowerment. By integrating breath and touch with color-changing technologies, this system strengthens the mind-body connection, enabling participants to actively shape and control their emotional experiences. This innovative approach equips individuals with practical skills for autonomously regulating and transforming their emotions, fostering a greater sense of agency over their well-being. ChromaCalm is more than a scarf and app; it's a personalised journey of emotional alchemy, where participants craft their emotional landscapes and emerge with newfound tools for resilience and self-discovery.

VagusVital is a system designed to empower users to manage long-term wellness by addressing short-term stress responses, focusing on the nervous system. It bridges the gap between point-of-care and self-care, offering an integrated approach to health management that enhances resilience and overall well-being.

ChromaVision is a dream driven design wearable colour-change health system that leverages data-driven visualisation to enhance the intuitive connection between mind and body. By translating physiological data into dynamic visual cues, this innovative system supports users in developing a deeper, more intuitive understanding of their mental and physical states.

The Kyokū Mindfulness Device is a cutting-edge wearable technology designed to support individuals facing anxiety. By combining meditation practices, biofeedback, and embodied interaction design, the device offers a holistic approach to mental well-being. Seamlessly integrating into users' lives, Kyokū provides a stigma-free tool for enhancing emotional health and resilience. Designed taking a human-centred deign approach, using qualitative research and iterating following user testing and feedback.

About

Christa Leask is a London-based design researcher, innovator, and artist, holding MA and MSc degrees in Global Innovation Design from the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London. She is the founder of Material Evolution Lab, a studio where innovation, art, design futures, and research converge, centred around her novel design methodology, Designing Stillness.

Specialising in innovation and sensory art, Christa’s work employs various technologies, including environment-responsive inks that react to environmental changes, data, and human interaction. An advocate for empowerment and mother-centric leadership, she integrates these values into both her personal art practice and projects at Material Evolution Lab. Through the Designing Stillness framework, Christa creates artworks and research-led innovations aimed at fostering awareness, resilience, and balance—catalysing both personal transformation and climate action for planetary healing.
