Kuyul Karü is the first co-designed biochar toolkit that aims to help small-scale farmers in Chile transform agricultural waste into valuable biochar, an effective soil enhancer. It aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices and reduce wildfire risks by providing an environmentally friendly alternative to burning waste. The toolkit is distributed free to farmers through government-funded programs, supporting national carbon neutrality and sustainable agriculture policies.

UnityHomes is 3D-printed modular housing development aiming to empower survivors in Texas designed in collaboration with Gracie Broom.

Vleur is a countertop device that transforms household food waste into valuable personal care products, designed in collaboration with Sabrina Tian and Keio University Samcara Research Lab.

Pawsome Power is a countertop device that through its AI platform enables you to transform your food waste into dog snacks.

About

Mai Garibaldi is an Innovation Strategist with over six years of experience in business development, sustainability, and social innovation. Holding a double master’s degree in Global Innovation Design from the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London, she excels in developing impactful solutions in complex, ever-changing environments.

With a unique background as both an engineer and designer, Mai has successfully led various high-impact projects. A notable achievement is Kuyul Karü, a non-profit project that empowers farmers to transform agricultural waste into biochar. This initiative, co-designed with local small-scale farmers, promotes sustainable agricultural practices and enhances crop yields while providing economic benefits to the community.

Mai is passionate about technology and sustainability, demonstrating her ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive strategic innovation. Her work consistently showcases her adaptability and dedication to fostering sustainable development and social impact. By blending technical expertise with creative design, Mai has made significant contributions across various sectors, proving her capability to thrive in diverse settings and deliver tangible results.
