About

Passionate about leveraging design to combat climate change, Richard is a Global Design Strategist for Climate Innovation. With over a decade of experience in design and entrepreneurship at McKinsey and various startups, he has led design teams and implemented agile practices to validate and launch successful initiatives in over ten countries across the Americas and Europe.

Richard is a co-founder at PYRI, where he designed an organic electronic system for early wildfire detection, and at SOLUS, where he created an intuitive AI tool to assist farmers in seamlessly transitioning to regenerative farming practices. He is also a Design Council Design for Planet Expert and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Richard’s strategic design approach is renowned for developing pioneering solutions that foster long-term environmental and business resilience. His award-winning innovations in mitigating the impacts of the climate crisis have been recognised by Fast Company Innovation by Design, Terra Carta Design Lab, the Royal Society of Arts, and Core77. Notably, he also co-founded the McKinsey Carbon Capture Initiative and has an Innovation Design Engineering degree from the Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art.

An advocate for designers’ and innovators’ responsibility to create new paradigms that strengthen the connection between humanity and nature, Richard continually explores the intersections of design, technology, and sustainability to generate meaningful change for a regenerative future.
