Hunter L. McFarlane is a Wearable Materials Technologist & Design Engineer, with a background specializing in various projects highlighting success in the fashion industry and space sector. In 2021, Hunter graduated from UAL: London College of Fashion from the renowned Menswear and Technology program showcasing in a selected group at London Fashion Week that was broadcasted by Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio. Over the next few years Hunter would work with numerous artists across the world in music videos, tv and film events, and press shoots for various magazines. Hunter’s work has frequently been inspired by social and environmental issues we face as humanity in a variety of creative disciplines. Hunter is graduating from the IDE: Innovation Design Engineering program MA/MSc between Royal College of Art and Imperial College London with focus on innovating how we monitor the environment from risks of climate change through combined engineering approaches. Hunter’s graduate research ‘ULLAAKKUT’ utilizes the value of orbital-satellite data to achieve un-anchored monitoring of minimally invasive tracking technology that works with pH sensors. As an assistant to Canadian coordinators of the ARISS program funded by NASA and the CSA, Hunter has had years of experience communicating with astronauts on board the ISS and running educational talks on humanoid robotics. Hunter was inspired to take on the project of ULLAAKKUT through their work with ARISS. Hunter was one of the first people present the day live video-feed was made possible, speaking with British astronaut Tim Peake while he was on board the ISS. Hunter plans to pursue future projects highlighting further areas of interest including animal welfare, medicine, and materials.
