During IDE, for his final master’s group project, his team developed a device to address issues of ventilation, heating and energy costs in the UK. Utilizing the principles of heat exchangers, they developed a device to allow air circulation in your homes without heat loss. This device allows fresh air into your homes without significantly increasing energy bills during the winter months.
For his solo masters’ project, Reuben developed an adaptive light weight 3D printable foot brace for children suffering from CTEV/ClubFeet. Clubfeet is one of the most common musculoskeletal birth defects to affect the lower limbs, 80% of these cases occur in lower-middle income countries which have limited access to specialized healthcare. Reuben’s solution involves using scanning software to generate a custom CAD file that can be affordably 3d printed locally. The use of lattice hinges, generative design and metamaterial ensures minimal material usage and cost, while providing comfort for the baby through localized support and breathability.
Reuben is currently developing a start-up focusing on mental health. Zenn: Art Meditation which reinvents mandala painting and guided journaling as a means to self-reflect, to meditate and to reduce screen-time.
