About

Hongyi is a service designer with a strong focus on social care.

During the RCA Challenge Lab, she collaborated with the charity organization Catch22 to design a tool for measuring the well-being of male probationers. By integrating gamification with traditional service tools, she, along with Xena Xu, Xiaohan Jin, Srihitha, and Alina Shen, developed a new service system called “How 2 Kick Off.”

In the London Borough of Croydon, she initiated the “Croco” project. This project links local homeless organizations with residents, provides fertilizer to a innovative farming technology company, and promotes “no-dig” farming techniques to reduce water reprocessing. This initiative involved students from Design Products, Textiles, Innovation Design Engineering, and Fashion.

Hongyi also designed a project called “Hifan,” which focused on localizing Chinese games for overseas markets. She collaborated with Zijie Zhu and Wenwen Ma, conducting numerous interviews with industry professionals to gather valuable feedback. They used this feedback to create a highly recognized workflow platform. Her work demonstrated a deep understanding of the complexities of service design.

She is now set to embark on a new journey at Central Saint Martins, continuing her research in service design, gamification, and criminology.
