About

My name is Tao Hong. I’m from Xiamen, China, and I earned my undergraduate degree in Painting at Xiamen College of Arts and Crafts, Fuzhou University. During my studies, I built a strong background in artistic design and user interface design, which led me to discover my passion for creating user-focused services.

At the Royal College of Art, I concentrated on blending artistic creativity with practical design to tackle complex problems in service settings. During my academic journey, I deeply explored user experience research, interface design, and how to apply design thinking to solve real-world issues.

Final Project: En Route & Greens at Heathrow Airport

For my final project, I designed and developed the “En Route & Greens” initiative at Heathrow Airport. This innovative service design project aims to improve the passenger experience by introducing a multi-sensory garden within the airport. The garden provides a peaceful and interactive space to help reduce travel-related stress. Additionally, the project includes advanced wayfinding systems and a mobile app that helps travelers easily navigate the airport.

The “En Route & Greens” project showcases my ability to combine design aesthetics with functional solutions, addressing both the emotional and practical needs of users. My work on this project involved detailed user research, collaboration with various partners, and a thorough approach to service design that focuses on user comfort and satisfaction.

Work Experience

My work experience includes an internship at TalentedSoft, where I worked as an interface designer and market researcher. I participated in the development of smart toy interfaces and conducted market research on user behavior. These experiences have given me valuable insights into how to design user interactions and experiences, especially in the context of new technologies.

Research and Volunteering

Besides my professional roles, I have researched the travel needs of elderly individuals and developed service plans tailored to their requirements. I have also been actively involved in volunteering, contributing to rural revitalization projects in China, where I supported local artisans with product design and market positioning.

Future Aspirations

I am passionate about continuing to work in service design, and I am particularly interested in exploring how design, technology, and user behavior come together to create environments that are not only functional but also emotionally fulfilling.

With a strong foundation in design thinking and a commitment to improving user experience, I aim to make a meaningful contribution to the field of service design in China and around the world.
