Grand Challenge-Bexley's EELvolution: Our initiative seeks to raise awareness about the endangered European eels in Bexley’s River Cray by proposing a sustainable eel pass for elvers (baby eels) in Hall Place & Gardens to enhance their efficiency in upstream migration.

Challenge Lab-Zegon: Use treasure hunting game as a carrier to educate Gen Z, while also providing a community forum for communication, petitioning, and voting. Let Gen Z reflect the impact of their investment behaviour on climate change and make behavioural changes.

IRP-FinNest: Provide a platform for financial advice and financial planning (focusing on 0-6 year olds) for middle class families who are first time parents, enabling them to make informed financial decisions earlier, develop the habit of long term planning, and ensure that they are well prepared financially.

Across RCA-Does ordinary matter: The Five Elements (Chinese: 五行; pinyin: wǔxíng) is a metaphysics based on cosmic analogies, representing different stages of the orderly functioning of the universe, each of which has a complex network associated with different aspects of nature: colours, seasons and shapes all interact with each other according to cycles. Everything in the universe operates orderly, and when it gets out of control, it changes its original operation and creates a new state. By understanding the rhythm of the universe, we may recognise the uncertainty in the development of things, understand different emotional states and accept the rhythm of different stages of life.

About

Hi, I’m Xinyu, a graduate student in Service Design (2023/24) at the Royal College of Art, with a background in Industrial Design and three years of work experience. My passion for design extends beyond aesthetics and functionality; I am deeply committed to addressing and solving social issues through thoughtful and innovative design solutions.

Throughout my career, I have consistently focused on pressing social issues and have been actively involved in projects that tackle these challenges. My work primarily revolves around social care, sustainability, and finance. These projects have not only honed my design skills but also strengthened my belief in the transformative power of design.

I firmly believe that design is a powerful catalyst for improving the way people live. It has equipped me with a keen eye for detail, enabling me to identify problems and proactively seek out practical and effective solutions. For me, design carries a profound sense of mission and responsibility. Through my work, I hope to make a meaningful impact on society and enhance the quality of life for individuals and communities.
